Configure VPN On Android Tablet

A VPN or Virtual Private Network is an essential feature that allows you to connect to the internet in a more secure manner. It provides you the means to access websites or apps that are not available in your region, hides your location and whereabouts, as well as allows you to enjoy a safe browsing experience while using public Wi-Fi. Luckily, Android comes equipped with an inbuilt VPN feature and all that requires is to configure it in the right way. Moreover, there are several VPN apps available in the Play Store that you can download and use right away.

How VPN Works?

A VPN is used in networking systems and it functions by rerouting the internet traffic via a servicer located anywhere in the world. Using a VPN allows you to stay anonymous on the web and prevents any search engines and third parties to collect your usage and location data. Besides, it enhances the security while you are accessing the internet, especially on a public Wi-Fi, making it harder for cybercriminals to break into your tablet and steal data.

Setting up Built-in VPN

You can set up the built-in VPN feature on your Android tablet. For this feature, Android has provided support for VPNs like PPTP, L2TP, and IPsec. To configure VPN in your Android tablet, first open Settings and under the Wireless & Networks section, tap on More.

Open the VPN option that is displayed and then tap on the + button. This will open a small window containing many fields that you must enter. You must have the all the network related information to enter in the field. Enter any name that you wish to in the Name field and then select the type whether it is PPTP, L2TP, etc.

Enter the server address of the VPN and tap on the Save button to configure the VPN feature. To connect to the VPN, tap on the VPN that you have created. You must enter the username and password required by the VPN in order to establish a successful connection. When connected to a VPN, it will be notified in the notifications panel of your tablet.

Using VPN Apps

There are many VPN apps available in the Play Store that you can download freely. Using these apps allows you to enable VPN more easily than going through the setup process for built-in VPN on your tablet. When installed, you must first open this app and tap on their connect button. After the connection is established, you can open the browser on your tablet to browse the internet anonymously.
